LASIK in Tijuana: what it is and how to know if you're a candidate

I know that deciding to stop wearing glasses is an important step — that's why I want to tell you, in my own words, how the process really works at Vision Clinic, so you can arrive at your consultation with full confidence and no surprises.

LASIK is today the most widely known refractive surgery worldwide for correcting nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. A good candidate typically has a stable prescription, adequate corneal thickness, and no active ocular surface disease — but we only know that for certain after a thorough evaluation.

Here's the process, step by step

1
Initial consultation. We talk and take your general information — this is our first contact, where I get to know your history and expectations.
2
We assess your current vision. We measure your visual acuity with our precision equipment.
3
Corneal topography. This study tells us whether you're a candidate for refractive surgery, and which technique will give you the best outcome.
4
Complete eye exam. This includes dilating drops — your vision will be blurry for a while afterward, which is completely normal.
5
I explain your case in detail. I personally walk you through which technique is best for you —LASIK, PRK or SMILE— because the choice depends on each case; there's no one-size-fits-all answer.
6
You receive your studies in print. It's important that you keep your own file, for yourself and for any future reference.
7
Written quote and instructions. You get everything in writing: costs and pre-surgery instructions, with no surprises.
8
I answer your questions, myself. I personally explain the risks and benefits of your procedure — not an assistant, not a form.

Why this matters to me: I am the one who personally examines every patient and explains the risks and benefits of their surgery. At other clinics this step is often delegated to other staff; for me, it's an essential —and non-negotiable— part of your care.

The pre-operative evaluation —corneal topography, pachymetry and a comprehensive eye health exam— is the most important part of the process, since it determines not only whether you can have surgery, but which technique will give you the best result. We offer bilingual care for Mexican and U.S. patients seeking LASIK surgery with international safety standards.

If you're already considering giving up your glasses, I'd be glad to walk with you through every step of this process, from your first consultation to your recovery.
