What is LASIK surgery?

LASIK (Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis) is the most widely performed refractive surgery in the world. It uses a high-precision excimer laser to reshape the cornea and correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism, reducing or eliminating dependence on glasses or contact lenses.

The procedure first creates a very thin corneal flap with a femtosecond laser, under which the excimer laser reshapes the cornea's curvature according to your prescription. Afterward, the flap repositions naturally, with no stitches needed.

It's an outpatient, painless procedure, 10–15 minutes per eye, using only anesthetic drops. Visual recovery is typically fast — most patients notice a marked improvement within the first 24 hours.
