Recovery varies by technique: with LASIK and SMILE it's usually very fast, with noticeable improvement from day one; with PRK it's a bit more gradual, since the corneal epithelium needs to regenerate.
In all three cases, relative rest is recommended for the first few days, along with avoiding eye rubbing, wearing protective shields while sleeping, and avoiding swimming and dusty environments while the cornea heals. Antibiotic and anti-inflammatory drops are prescribed for the first week, and lubricating drops for several weeks.
Some dryness or light sensitivity is normal during the first few weeks, while the eye finishes healing and your new vision stabilizes.
